The three aspects of the self

Kū, Lono, and Kāne

In Serge Kahili King's teaching, a person works as three aspects in partnership. Healing often begins by noticing which one needs attention.

KūThe body self

The body and its memory: habits, emotions, and the felt sense of things. Kū learns through experience and repetition.

LonoThe thinking self

The conscious mind that chooses, decides, and directs attention. Lono sets the course; Kū carries it out.

KāneThe spirit self

The deeper, inspired self that connects you to purpose and to the life around you. Kāne offers guidance when Kū and Lono are in harmony.

Begin, and let it grow.

As the moon gathers light, this is a season for beginnings. Plant an intention while it is still small, tend it gently, and let it build night by night rather than all at once.

What would you like to grow between now and the full moon?

Thirty named nights

The Hawaiian month begins with the first thin crescent after sunset and moves through three periods of ten nights. Select any night to see it.

About Huna

Huna is a modern philosophy of effective living. It was first presented by Max Freedom Long in the 1930s and later developed by Serge Kahili King, who drew on Hawaiian language and concepts. It is distinct from traditional Hawaiian religion, and Madison shares it with respect for the culture whose words it uses.
